Construction of a new Aldi Store in Cootehill in Co Cavan is due to begin in early 2024 with the creation of 85 jobs locally.
The German Supermarket says 60 jobs will be created during the construction stage and 25 permanent roles will be created when the store opens its doors.
Aldi were given the green light to start work on a new €6.5m store in the town last week by An Bord Pleanála.
They were granted planning permission for the 1,351 sq m store following months of campaigning by local people determined to bring the discount supermarket to north east Cavan.
Managing Director of Buying and Services at ALDI Ireland, Colin Breslin said: "Aldi are particularly delighted for those people who have campaigned tirelessly and signed petitions supporting our efforts to come to the town."
The Cootehill store will be powered by 100% green electricity. In addition, Cootehill shoppers will also benefit from four electric vehicle charging points at the new store along with 10 bicycle rack stands.
