Construction of the new Primary Care Centre in Monaghan town is to begin later this month.
The long-awaited project has been dogged by delays since it was first announced over ten years ago.
This centre was first planned for a site at Monaghan Hospital but constraints at the site meant it could not progress past planning.
It's now planned the former Blackwater House building on the Saint Davnet's campus will be refurbished to house the facility.
The HSE expects the work to cost in the region of €7 million.
Planning permission for the project was granted by Monaghan County Council last summer.
In response to a query from Northern Sound News, the HSE says work on the refurbishment is to begin later this month.
It says work is expected to take around 16 months.
