There has been confirmation from Bus Eireann that all Monaghan passengers that book their tickets online will be guaranteed a seat on the service.
Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy received this response after writing to Bus Eireann CEO, Stephen Kent following issues with passengers in the county being left stranded at bus stops due to reduced capacity on buses.
This guarantee came into effect on the 29th July, with Mr. Kent stating he recognises the pressures on capacity with Route 32, and such a commitment has not been given to passengers on any other route, as of yet.
In his response he also said that this capability is not currently available across the whole Expressway network, but they are 'working hard to deliver it as quickly as possible.'
Deputy Carthy has welcomed the response, however, says that the situation is still not perfect, and the overarching issue regarding the poor public transport provision for County Monaghan remains.
