A local councillor has expressed his concern over that the average speed cameras that were installed recently on the N3.
Cllr Brendan Fay welcomed the introduction of the cameras and anything that can assist with road safety but he believes they need to be in a different position. The local councillor said they need to be able to take in the area of the N3 that runs up to the Belturbet Roundabout.
He says the current issue is that a lot of motorists are now speeding up when they know they are out of the average speed camera system area of the N3. Cllr Fay brought the motion to the most recent sitting of Cavan County Council were Cllr John Paul Feeley described it akin to a runway at Dublin Airport.
The Independent Councillor said the location of cameras are the problem and certainly not the system of average speed cameras.
