One local motorist has raised his concerns over toll charges on the N3/M3. According to Gerry, he had the correct amount of €1.70 in change for each toll, but when stopped at the first booth the amount due on display was €2.60. The issue was rectified by a lady working at the toll who immediately changed the display and apologised for the error.
Despite this, the same issue occurred at the second toll booth and on the journey home also. While Gerry was able to flag the issue up at each toll, he is concerned for other motorists using card who may be unaware of extra charges that are incorrect. While Gerry said he has never experienced this problem previously, he wonders if this was a once of scenario or something that motorists should be cautious of on a daily basis.
Gerry explained; "This begs a broader question. When people reach the toll booth it's like going through a Grand Prix pit stop. They rush in, tap their card or phone and they're away as soon as the barrier lifts. Do people actually look at the price displayed? The more experienced you are or the more you use it you actually become more complacent to these things." Shannonside Northern Sound contacted 'Tazbell Services Group' the company which is responsible for running toll operations on the M3 about this incident but are yet to receive a response.
