Despite raising his concerns with the local authority over 14 months ago, Cllr Conlon warned that the lack of action taken is "not good enough."

A Monaghan councillor has raised his concerns over the lack of pedestrian crossing at Latlorcan. Sinn Fein's Sean Conlon highlighted that the junction entering and exiting Latlorcan is an issue which is of "huge concern" to many residents and those living nearby. According to Cllr Conlon, a pedestrian crossing is "needed" due to the high number of young people who avail of this particular crossing to access nearby shops. Despite raising his concerns with the local authority over 14 months ago, Cllr Conlon warned that the lack of action taken is "not good enough." He added that we "cannot wait" for a tragedy to occur before action is taken to implement the appropriate safety measures.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Conlon explained; Despite raising his concerns with the local authority over 14 months ago, Cllr Conlon warned that the lack of action taken is "not good enough." He added that we "cannot wait" for a tragedy to occur before action is taken to implement the appropriate safety measures. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Conlon explained; "14 months on and there's still talks about a safety assessment or survey and this is just not good enough. We cannot wait for an accident or God forbid a further tragedy than that to occur before we act in getting up the appropriate safety measures. There is a number of entrances and exits between the two garages and the car wash as we know but also we must be mindful that there is a lot of people, especially children at times going across to the shops, back and forth. I've been emphasising the need at council meetings going back 14 months now that there has to be provision of appropriate safety measures at that junction."
