There are concerns over the future of local jobs after it was announced over 400 Argos stores are to close.
This morning, Sainsbury's - which owns the catalogue retailer - said that by March 2024, 420 standalone Argos stores will close, mainly in the UK.
150 meanwhile are to open within Sainsbury's supermarkets.
The company has yet to decide on how the restructuring will affect stores in the Republic of Ireland.
There are almost 40 Argos stores across Ireland, including in Cavan and Monaghan.
In a statement to Northern Sound News, a company spokesperson said they are in the process of reviewing their estate, and have not yet released a list of stores that will be affected.
