Community spirit 'hailed' following Storm Éowyn

Scotstown GAA noted that between 1pm and 3pm today there will be hot water, shower facility, fill water, charging phones/laptops availability at the Scotstown Complex. 

As the Storm Éowyn clean-up continues, Cavan County Council and Monaghan County Council are working with local partners to put in place local community hubs. The hubs are a place where where those affected by power cuts and water outages can come and avail of facilities such as charging, heat, and tea/coffee. The following community hubs in Co Cavan are available to the public from 10am this morning; Ballinagh Community Centre, Kingspan Breffni, Cavan Town, Bailieborough Business Centre, Kingscourt Community Centre, Virginia Show Centre, Market House, Blacklion, Goods Store Community Centre, Belturbet Railway Station, Tomregan Parish Hall, Killeshandra Resource Centre, Tullacmongan Resource Centre, Cavan Town and Kilian's Lodge, Mullagh. Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr TP O'Reilly hailed the community spirit of the people of Cavan in dealing with this historic storm, saying, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the phenomenal response from the community across the county in the face of this unprecedented disruption to basic services and the needs of our citizens".

Elsewhere, in Co Monaghan community hubs are available to the public at; The Peace Campus (room 1, level 1), Monaghan Town, Sean McDermotts GAA Community Centre, Threemilehouse - access also to shower facilities, Aughnamullen GAA Community Centre - access also to shower facilities, Oram Community Centre and Peace Link, Clones where access also to shower facilities is available. Scotstown GAA also noted that between 1pm and 3pm today there will be hot water, shower facility, fill water, charging phones/laptops availability at the Scotstown Complex.

All Community Hubs in GAA Clubs include; Ballybay Pearse Brothers GAA Club, A75 YX48 (5-8pm), Blackhill Emeralds GAA Club, A75 P660 (from 8pm), Clones, St Tiarnachs, Drumhowan, Geraldines GAA, A75 YV81, Killeevan Sarsfields GAA, H18 X896, Scotstown GAA Club, H18 NV97 (1-3pm), Threemilehouse, Sean McDermotts GAA Club, H18 HK49, Truagh, St Mellans, H18 V008 and Tyholland Sports Complex, H18 T384.
