The family of a Mullagh man killed in a fatal crash in 2017 say they've been "let down by the Courts".
20 year old Cormac Murphy died five days after being involved in a single vehicle collision, in which a man was today given community service for careless driving causing his death.
In their victim impact statement read to the Court last week, the Murphy family outlined the loss they've felt over the past three and a half years, and how Cormac was someone "full of divilment" with friends all around.
They said he'd his whole life ahead of him and had only just put in an order for his own artic lorry prior to his death.
This morning, Judge John Aylmer handed 22 year old Pete Rogers from Ballinaclieve, Moynalty 240 hours community service in lieu of 12 months in prison and disqualified him from driving for eight years after pleading guilty to the lesser charge of careless driving causing death.
He said there wasn't sufficient evidence to suggest speed or alcohol played a role in the incident, but the driver was responsible that none of the rear seat passengers, including Cormac, were wearing seatbelts.
Speaking outside the Court, Bernie and Fergus Murphy thanked the Gardaí for their investigation, but were critical of how their son's case was dealt with:
