A local TD says Meath communities who are opposed to the removal of emergency services from Navan Hospital will have the full support of people from Monaghan.
Deputy Matt Carthy added that the situation is "very familiar to Monaghan people, as are the HSE promises of better services to be provided elsewhere".
The HSE plans to close the A&E and close ICU beds at the facility, saying it wants patients going to the right place for the right treatment.
But Deputy Carthy says the withdrawal of emergency services from Monaghan resulted in "drastic overcrowding at Cavan and Drogheda hospitals".
The local Sinn Féin TD has warned that the closure of emergency services in Navan will also "result in further stress at other hospitals such, as Drogheda".
