The 50th anniversary of the Belturbet bombing will be commemorated at 12 noon on Wednesday the 28th of December at the site of the 1972 tragedy.
The event is being organised by Cavan County Council and Justice for the Forgotten.
Speaking ahead of the event, Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr John Paul Feeley said the commemoration provides an opportunity to pause and remember Geraldine O'Reilly and Patrick Stanley who tragically died and those who were injured that day.
He pointed out that it also provided an occasion to give thanks for the peace we now enjoy.
He added that commemorative events are a source of great comfort and consolation to bereaved families and it is particularly important to mark significant anniversaries, such as this.
