Monaghan based manufacturing firm - Combilift - will celebrate 25 years in business by launching three new products this week. Over the past 25 years, Combilift has made an enormous impact on people's lives as a major employer in Monaghan and nearby counties, employing a total of 800 people.
Local man Martin McVicar is the Managing Director of Combilift. Speaking to Northern Sound, he revealed that today the company will announce its move into the offshore wind sector with the launch of a new product designed to meet the load handling demands of largescale offshore wind manufacturers.
The scale of the requirements of those developing offshore wind equipment has driven the need for bespoke handling solutions across the supply chain. The blades being moved for example are currently up to 115m long, which is longer than the Aviva Stadium football pitch, and weigh around 70t. Recognising the unique requirements of the offshore wind sector, Combilift has spent over two years developing the technology for the Combi-LC (Combilift Load-Carrier).
With the company now employing over 800 people in Monaghan and 200 people in other locations across the world, Mr McVicar believes the success of Combilift is "testament" to its people, customers and the support provided by Enterprise Ireland. He added that as celebrations take place today and for the remainder of this week, the company as a whole is "looking forward" to the next 25 years at Combilift.
"We have a track record of innovation at Combilift," explained Mr McVicar. "We invest 7% of our revenue annually in R&D and today is the culmination of many years’ hard work. We are delighted to be continuing this tradition of innovation 25 years on.
"Now employing over 800 people in Monaghan and 200 people in other locations across the world, the success of Combilift is testament to our people, our customers and the support provided by Enterprise Ireland. We are looking forward to the next 25 years at Combilift.
