Coldest temperature recorded in Ireland in Kilcogy last night

The temperature in Kilcogy overnight was -8.2 degrees Celsius - the lowest recorded in the country.

The lowest temperature recorded of any weather station across the country last night was in Kilcogy, County Cavan at minus 8.4 degrees Celsius.

The temperature taken at Ballyhaise weather station this morning was a higher -3.4 degrees.

The temperatures taken at Cavan reflect the advisory notices issued by Met Éireann for a status orange ice and frost warning took effect from 6pm yesterday evening and was to stay in place until 11am this morning by the time the mercury was set to rise.
