The lack of communication following Storm Darragh in relation to water supply and electricity outages has been raised.
Cllr John Paul Feeley brought a motion to Cavan County Council yesterday highlighting the long delays people are continuing to go without the likes of electricity and water in their homes. He said in many cases the power outages and now the major delays is down to trees and the location of them to electrical power lines.
Cllr Feeley said forestry companies like Coillte and others have no regard for the people living or travelling in these rural areas who may to go up to one week without basic needs in their homes.
He called on Cavan County Council to write to the Agriculture Minister and Coillte about the situation. Along with Cllr John Paul Feeley members agreed and paid tribute to the Trojan work that council staff along with ESB crews and the fire service did over the weekend and continue to do since Storm Darragh hit.
He said forestry companies going forward is going to have to take a more hands on approach and carry out a lot more maintenance than they are doing to prevent trees falling on power lines in the future.
