The driver of one car, a man in his 70s, and a passenger of the other car, a woman in her 70s, both died.

A section of the N14 remains closed this morning.

An investigation into his death is currently underway.

He was the fourth person to die on Irish roads over the course of the weekend. 

Those who died aged from 5 years to 59 years of age.
