Co Cavan UNESCO Geopark undergoes re-brand in a bid to boost tourism

It has been re-branded as the "Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark".

A UNESCO Geopark undergoes re-brand in a bid to boost tourism in the region. It covers west Cavan and south Fermanagh.

The former Marble Arch Caves Geopark will now go by the "Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark".

The two authorities responsible for the site, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Cavan County Council, say the Geopark re-brand "creates a clear sense of the Geopark as a place for everyone". However the Marble Arch Caves will remain a key 'Geosite' within the new Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark. Cavan Councillor John Paul Feeley is the Chair of the Geopark Committee and says:

"the new brand will further articulate all that the region has to offer".

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Councillor Feeley said the new name highlights the sites right across Co Cavan that form the Geopark:
