A Ballyjamesduff school teacher is putting his best food forward in a bid to raise essential funds for the charity 'Mary's Meals'. Stiofán Mac Brádaigh completed the Camino de Santiago to raise money to benefit Mary's Meals and has so far raised over €3,000 euro on his GoFundMe page.
Mary's Meals is an international movement to set up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education. Speaking to Northern Sound, the local Spanish teacher said he is "overwhelmed" with the support he has received since embarking on his walking challenge. He added that it's important to "give back" and hopes he can take part in more initiatives like this in the future. "We're planning at TY Camino trip again for next April so I'll hopefully have a few more ideas on how we raise more money for other charities," he explained. "It will be great to get the students involved in the spirit of the Camino and show them how it can be used for a greater cause."
