A Co Cavan man is in line to be part of a 15-strong Irish team that will compete at the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai later this year.
Mark McSherry, an apprentice with McCabe Masonry, won his category at this week's WorldSkills Ireland National Competition.
WorldSkills Ireland is a partnership between enterprise, education, training and government that raises the profile and recognition of skills and apprenticeships.
The WorldSkills Competition is one of only two international events scheduled to be held in China this year, with the other being the recent Winter Olympics.
A spokesperson from WorldSkills Ireland says this is testament to the esteem that the competition is held in.
Having proved his skill in masonry, Mark now moves to the next stage and will be considered for inclusion in the Irish team that will take on representatives from 89 other countries at the Shanghai competition.
