A Co Armagh family are raising awareness and much-needed funds for a charity close to their heart in this, TOFS week. Odhran Loughran turns one at the end of March. Immediately after he was born he was rushed for life-saving surgery after a chest x-ray found his oesophagus and trachea were joined and his oesophagus does not meet with his stomach. Odhran was diagnosed with Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula or TOF.
His parents, David and Angela, say they would have been lost without the TOFS charity and Facebook support group, which, does not receive any government funding. Now, during TOFS Awareness Week, Odhran's Dad, David is running 5k a day until March 21st to raise vital funds for the group which is a lifeline to many families in their situation.
David told Northern Sound why the timing is so important: "We wanted to really raise awareness for the TOFS condition and charity, which, has been a great help to us so far," he said, "The start of this week, the 26th February is TOFS Awareness Week and will run into Odhran's birthday, when he will be one, on March 21st." Anyone who wishes to donate can do so here.
