Cavan-Monaghan Education and Training Board is progressing building projects across Cavan and Monaghan, valued at approximately €200m. The jewel in the crown of the CMETB's property development portfolio is the "College of the Future" project in Cavan Town which was recently granted approval to move to the tender stage.
Major school expansions are underway at ETB schools including; Virginia College, Inver College Carrickmacross, Beech Hill College Monaghan, Coláiste Dún an Rí Kingscourt, Castleblayney College, and Breifne College Cavan. CMETB serves 6,104 post-primary students and 10,500 learners across further education and training and other programmes, employing approximately 1,478 staff members.
In a statement, CMETB, said the committee is "actively collaborating with stakeholders to expedite these building developments ... for the communities in Cavan and Monaghan." The new FET college on the existing Cavan Institute Cathedral Road Campus will consolidate further education and training services at one location in Cavan town and introduce new training programmes and specialisms.
For non-ETB schools, work continues on new developments at Clones (Gaelscoil Eois), Castleblayney (Gaelscoil Lorgan) and Rockcorry (Scoil Mhuire). CMETB is also managing building projects at Doohamlet National School, Edenmore Primary School, and the provision of PE halls for both the Royal School Cavan and Monaghan Collegiate School.
