Cavan-Monaghan Education and Training Board have elected well-known Monaghan businesswoman, Aprilanna Barker, as Deputy Chairperson of the board. Following a vote at the most recent CMETB meeting, Ms Barker was appointed to the role and will now work alongside current chairperson, Councillor David Maxwell also of Monaghan.
The meeting also nominated external members to various ETB committees including boards of management of CMETB schools and FET centres, the Garage Theatre and Tanagh Outdoor Education and Training Centre. Ms Barker will be best known as General Manager in her husband's family business, Dinkin's Bakery and Café in Church Square Monaghan Town, and her involvement in other committees like the Monaghan Street Food Festival and Monaghan Town Team.
Aprilanna was previously been nominated to sit on numerous educational committees including the board of management at Beech Hill School and Monaghan Institute. She holds a degree in business and economics from Trinity College Dublin and says a passion for education was instilled in her as a child:
