CMETB launch new course on budgeting

This course offers learners the knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively and embrace sustainable living.

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB), in partnership with the Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS), has launched a new course titled "Managing the Sustainable Home." An official launch event was held recently at Johnston Central Library in Cavan. The event celebrated the collaborative effort among these agencies to develop and validate this new course and bringing it to market for learners. The QQI Level 3 Special Purpose Award in Managing the Sustainable Home aims to enable learners to apply sustainable practices to everyday household management. The award covers three specific areas including; Budgeting and Financial Management, Sustainable and Healthy Food Provision and Sustainable Use of Energy and Utilities.

Dympna McCarron is the Director of Quality Assurance and Enhancement Services with the CMETB. Speaking to Northern Sound, Dympna believes that sustainable practices are essential for both businesses and individuals alike are "crucial" in today’s society." Dympna continued; "The development of a new programme takes vision and we are proud to see this vision come to life today, offering learners a unique opportunity to enhance their household management skills sustainably."
