CMETB is seeking permission to build a two storey extension to the Ballybay Community College.
The Department of Education gave overall approval to the project in December of last year.
The plans will see the construction of a two storey extension to the front and side of existing building on the Carrickmacross road.
This would allow for a new science laboratory, a shared preparation area, two classrooms at the lower level, as well as alterations to an existing science laboratory.
The school had originally been given approval for the new science lab but the classrooms were added to the plans last December.
A decision on the plans is expected by the 16th of August.
