The closure of the Station Road Mart in Cootehill will come as a shock to customers according to a local agricultural journalist.
Mart managers Jimmy and Carmel O'Reilly issued a statement saying that from last Friday the company won't be operating the mart and it was closed with immediate effect.
They say the company has been and remains solvent but would not comment further when contacted by Shannonside Northern Sound News.
Adam Woods from the Famers' Journal says the reason behind the closure is to do with the property the mart is operating out of.
