Close to €6 million for healthcare facilities across Cavan and Monaghan has been announced in the 2022 Capital Plan.
Half a million euro will go towards a major extension of Cavan General Hospital, which recently received planning approval for a new three-storey extension block.
Elsewhere in Cavan, around €100,000 will be used to purchase a site at the rear of the Virginia Primary Care Centre.
Meanwhile in Co Monaghan, €5.1 m million euro will go towards the North Monaghan Primary Care Centre, at St Davnet's Campus.
Construction began on the site in March 2021.
Nationwide, health capital funding of €1.02 billion is available in 2022 for the construction and equipping of healthcare facilities, an increase of 4% on last year.
Local Deputies Niamh Smyth and Brendan Smith have welcomed the local funding announcement.
