Clones Lace has been formally recognised by the state.
The Department of Heritage announced its inclusion on the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage yesterday.
It was one of eight practices added to the register, along with the likes of beekeeping, Headford Lace Making and the Irish Traditional Travelling Circus and Funfair.
The State is required to recognise, protect and promote the living cultural heritage of the country under a UNESCO scheme.
There are 38 practices already on the list, including Carrickmacross Lace, Mummers and Uilleann Piping.
