A Book of Evidence will be served on Wednesday on the man charged in connection with a road traffic accident in the Clones area last July in which two teenage girls lost their lives.
Anthony McGinn, aged 60, of Drumloo, Newbliss, Co Monaghan is charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of 17-year-old Kiea McCann and 16-year-old Dlava Mohammed at Legnakelly, Clones on July 31 2023. Mr McGinn is also charged with dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to Avin Mohammed on the same occasion.
At Monaghan District Court today, Garda Sergeant Damien Galligan confirmed that the Book of Evidence in the case was ready. Mr Martin Cosgrove, solicitor for Mr McGinn, said his client was not present in court as he was attending a hospital appointment in Navan. Mr Cosgrove said that Mr McGinn had sustained serious injuries in the accident last July. However, the appointment in Navan was a pre-assessment and he would be able to attend court on Wednesday.
Judge Raymond Finnegan remanded Mr McGinn to appear at Monaghan District Court on Wednesday April 24 for service of the Book of Evidence. The teenagers and close friends were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling struck a tree while they were on their way to attend a debs function in Monaghan Town.
