A Clones Councillor says the local authority should look at taking ownership of the town's Bank of Ireland branch if it closes.
The Clones branch is one of 88 that are due to close in the Republic, but Pat Treanor says "it is well worthwhile to try and halt" this closure.
At today's meeting of the Ballybay-Clones MD, Councillor Treanor passed a motion calling on Bank of Ireland to reverse its decision.
However, Pat Treanor says the County Council should seek to take ownership of the "prominent" building if it closes.
The Sinn Féin councillor is hosting a public meeting on the issue this Friday at 7 pm, and he told Shannonside Northern Sound that the last thing Clones needs is another building "becoming vacant and lying idle":
