A Cavan councillor has described the recent budget announcement as a "welcomed development."
Despite outlining a number of discrepancies, which he hopes will be dealt with in time, Cllr Shane P O'Reilly believes everyone is "trying as best they can" to rectify the cost of living crisis.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr O'Reilly said he was "disappointed" that the Government allowance towards foster carers was not increased, adding that the weekly rate has only risen once in the last 12 years.
Cllr O'Reilly went on to praise the essential work of foster carers across the country, paying tribute to their hard work and dedication to those most vulnerable.
Cllr O'Reilly also outlined his concerns in relation to fuel prices and believes something needs to be done.
