A Monaghan councillor believes it's important for people to 'put things into perspective' and realise how difficult it is for refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.
That's according to Cllr Aoife McCooey when speaking to Northern Sound about the serious problems in relation to sourcing suitable accommodation for refugees.
According to the Fianna Fail representative, government is doing everything in its power to ensure there is both safety and protection for those arriving in Ireland.
As a local teacher, Cllr McCooey also outlined the important role that the education system has in providing integration tools for young children who are trying to secure some sort of normality in their lives:
Meanwhile, Ministers will meet remotely to discuss additional measures needed to increase capacity to accommodate Ukrainian refugees and those seeking international protection.
Taoiseach Michael Martin says the number of asylum seekers arriving in Ireland has increased significantly this year.
