Sinn Féin Councillor Sinead Flynn has been appoointed Chairperson of the Monaghan Women's Assembly. She takes over from her party colleague, Cathy Bennett TD, who is now a member of the Dáil following the general election.
The aim of the Women's Assembly is to create a voice for women in local politics and to that end supports initiatives which encourage the participation of women in local government. The group also highlights issues facing women in County Monaghan.
