Local Fianna Fail TD and Chairperson of the Oireachtas Media committee, Deputy Niamh Smyth believes important talks with Ryan Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly today will be beneficial to all members of the public.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Deputy Smyth says she is "glad" that both men volunteered to come forward.
The local representative believes today is an "important day" for Mr Tubridy, adding that she has felt "certain sympathies" for the voices who haven't been part of the conversation so far.
In relation to today's proceedings, Deputy Smyth points out that questions posed today will be an attempt to elicit more information from both Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly on this issue. She hopes that today will lead to clarity for members of the public as opposed to more unanswered questions.
"It's good that both men were willing to come in today," explained Deputy Smyth. "Based on the information I have seen so far, I was hoping that today would put the whole thing together, but it may end up that today poses more questions than answers.
"There are a couple of key questions to all of this and I think the two gentlemen are in for a tough and long day but hopefully we will get closer to the end of this."
