People in counties in the Shannonside Northern Sound Region are being penalised by the oil levy.
Kevin McPartlin is the CEO of Fuels for Ireland, and he says the NORA levy disproportionately impacts rural Ireland because there are few alternatives in these areas.
In the Shannonside Region 65% of homes in Leitrim use oil to heat their homes, with 55% in Longford and 54% Roscommon.
In the Northern Sound Region 75% of Monaghan homes depend on oil, with 70% in Cavan.
However, Kevin says people in urban areas have more options and is calling on all fuels to be taxed equally under the NORA levy to create a level playing field across the urban rural divide.
