The Christmas Lights Vehicle Parade is back for 2024.
The event has been renamed in honour of their friend and colleague, Kevin Smith. The annual charity event that has raised over €200,000 for local charities since 2012.
The event starts at Cavan Equestrian Centre – departing at 4.45pm and arriving into Cavan Town at approx. 5pm on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Smith sadly passed away on December 29th 2022. Kevin was a much loved man who endeared himself to so many people in different walks of life and he has left a lasting impression on those he met through his friendliness and good humour.
He was a tireless worker who never spared himself in the service of others and never said no. He was a former treasurer of his native club Killygarry and after he moved to live in Crosserlough he quickly became involved with the club serving as vice-chairman and then chairman and was development officer at the time of his passing. Declan Smith chair of the Christmas lights parade and a dear friend of the late Kevin Smith says this event is about remembering the popular man and very much about community.
