After a two-year Covid break, the annual Christmas Day swim will return to Emy Lake this year.
The Monaghan Branch of Parents and Friends of Persons with an Intellectual Disability say they are "delighted" to welcome back swimmers and spectators to their 2022 fundraising event.
This year, Parents and Friends will donate the proceeds to another local charity, Errigal Truagh Special Needs, a day activation centre for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, to fund respite for service users and their families in 2023.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Chairman of Monaghan's Parents and Friends branch - Joe Dirwan - says any money raised this festive season will play a vital part in keeping local group homes open.
He added that donations will also go a "long way" in supporting the continuation of day care services and the great work they do:
People can make a donation or sponsor a swimmer via the GoFundMe page or you can pass your donation to any Parents and Friends representatives who will be clearly identifiable at the swim.
