A Leitrim councillor is calling on the HSE to provide a building for the Leitrim/West Cavan Children's Disability Network Team.
Councillor Brendan Barry will bring the motion forward to the Ballinamore Municipal District next Monday.
He believes it will maximise the amount of time therapists will have to help the children of the area and therefore not spending time in cars and traffic
travelling to several different buildings.
Speaking to Shannonside / Northern Sound, Councillor Barry believes a new building would give a sense of familiarity for children in the area:
"A place where children with autism, for example, will get used to the one building and being there and have a place where they won't be fearful going inti it for therapy sessions because they would be well used to it," he said.
Councillor Barry suggested the building recently vacated by the Now Doc service, which Cllr Barry urged the HSE to look at as a "possible" base, office and therapy rooms for the Leitrim/West Cavan Children's Disability Network Team.
