The Chief Executive of Cavan County Council says they must remain optimistic about the future growth of the region.

It comes after a financial report at the most recent meeting said the income for 2020 could potentially fall by €8.5 million because of Covid-19.

The local authority is awaiting details of a government waiver, which could limit the loss from unpaid commercial rates.

At the most recent County Council meeting, a number of councillors expressed their disappointment at the lack of clarity and direction from central government, which means funding until the end of the year is in doubt – before even considering the 2021 budget.

Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Sarah O’Reilly said a solution must be found.
