Plans for teachers to assess students in Leaving Cert exams have been shelved this week because of the risk of cheating posed by artificial intelligence platforms like ChatGPT.
The platform came on stream last November and has rocked educations systems across the world since its inception.
Caolan Maguire from Co Monaghan is a thrid year softwear development student at ATU Galway and chairperson of its AI Society.

Speaking on this week's Joe Finnegan Show, he said that plagerism detection will be enhanced thanks to technological developments in the area.
Caolan added that ChatGPT is not infallible and serious mistakes have already been detected in students' work.
