Calls for changes to land designation in Lisdarn, just north of the hospital on the outskirts of Cavan town, received unanimous support from elected members at a recent county development plan meeting.
Chief Executive of Cavan County Council, Tommy Ryan told those gathered that he was recommending three changes to the current designation.
This, he added, included two areas for low density residential development and one section to be zoned for amenity.
The meeting heard there would be “no impact” in terms of housing supply targets in the county as a result of the changes and that the location was “better suited” to the proposals outlined.
Meanwhile, the draft county development plan 2023-2028 will go out to public consultation in the coming weeks.
