Aldi's plans for a new supermarket in Cootehill will bring a boost to the town, according to the Chair of the Chamber of Commerce.
Mary Lennon has welcomed today's announcement which will see the creation of 25 new jobs once the store opens.
Aldi says it has applied for planning permission for the 1,300 square metre supermarket at a site on the Station Road.
It's hoped the supermarket will bring a boost to Cootehill and Mary Lennon says fears it could impact on existing businesses are unfounded:
Today's news comes less than two weeks after Bank of Ireland announced it's closing Cootehill's remaining bank branch.
Mary Lennon says Aldi's potential arrival is a vote of confidence in the town:
The plans consist of a 1,315 sq m supermarket, with 93 parking spaces, four electric vehicle charging points and 10 bike parking spaces.
Aldi says it will be powered with 100 per cent green electricity.
It already has supermarkets in Cavan town and Carrickmacross, with another planned for Monaghan town.
