A new state-of-the-art community centre was officially opened by local Minister Heather Humphreys in Doohamlet this morning.
The project which came to fruition as a result of 'Leader Programme Funding' and community fundraising, has been ten years in the making.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Chairman of the Doohamlet Community Centre, John Doran, described this morning's events as a 'celebration' for the whole community.
He added that he is 'thankful' to have reached this point, after first receiving keys for the new facility on the exact date that national lockdown was announced at the start of Covid.
Despite this, Mr Doran says he is proud of what the community has achieved and believes the new centre will serve as a 'spring board' not just for Doohamlet but the 'wider' Monaghan area:
