To celebrate International Women's Day, the Star Weave Project - The One Million Stars Project and weaving Communities of Courage Against Violence - is being highlighted in Cavan and Monaghan this week.
Miffy Hoad was instrumental in bringing the initiative to the region which originally started in Australia following the rape and murder of Louth woman Jill Maher.
The eight-point start represents light, hope and solidarity and creates a safe space for those affected by gender based and sexual violence.
"The goal was to weave 10,000 stars across Cavan and Monaghan," she added.
"While its very hard to determine how many stars were weaved, we estimate that we are at around 4,000 stars so far."
Meanwhile, Siobhan McKenna of Termann Domestic Violence Services - which has partnered with the initiative - says the root of all gender-based and sexual violence is "power and control".
She added that the Star Weave project's ability to prove a 'safe space' so that people can talk has served to enhance "an openness and willingness" to discuss domestic violence more and destigmatise it as well.
"Over the last couple of years, in one sense there has been many downsides," Siobhan continued.
"The positive side for domestic, sexual and gender based violence has been the openness and willingness to highlight the issue.
"And also that people are coming forward and talking about how difficult it was to be locked down in families where everything was not just love, joy and hope."
