The national 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 people has fallen below 300 for the first time in over a week.

675 new cases of the virus were confirmed here yesterday, the lowest daily figure in almost three weeks - while six more deaths were reported.

Cavan recorded 12 cases as its 14-day incidence rate - the highest in the country - fell to 811.3.

Monaghan recorded six cases and its incidence rate is 364.9.

327 people with the disease were being treated in Irish hospitals last night, while 40 patients were in intensive care units.
