Cavan women are being asked to participate in a survey that aims to improve the quality of breastfeeding supports within maternity services.
84% of women say that before birth their intention was to exclusively breastfeed.
Yet studies have found that only 53% of women reported that they were exclusively breastfeeding after birth.
Deirdre Kingston from Bainne Beatha told Shannonside Northernsound this week that the survey is focused on determining the level of support women actually received between 2019 and December 2021.
She added that members want to understand the experiences of people throughout the country and ensure that a voice can be given to those experiences when it comes to policy and decision making.
Meanwhile, there has been over 4,000 responses so far but little input from Co Cavan, so the organisation is putting "a particular focus" on the county over the next few weeks and appealing to people to participate.
