A Cavan woman and her husband who live in Dublin have been praised for their hospitality after a scam incident in the capital.

Áine, who hails from South Armagh, travelled to Dublin with her friend to attend the Taylor Swift concert over the weekend, after purchasing tickets on Ticketswap.

However, when her tickets were scanned at the gate, it was found they were not genuine and they were victims of a scam. The pair had paid 240 euro for their tickets and were left waiting for hours for their bus home while the concert carried on. Carmel Dalton, who's originally from Cavan and who's husband spotted the girls waiting on the beach near Ballsbridge, invited them into her home to pass the time.

She says Áine and her friend stayed for almost 2 hours and that its important for young women to feel safe in the city.

"When I heard the story I thought, what mother out there wouldn't like to know that their girls were safe and they were 100% safe with us and that they trusted us. We had a lovely evening of talking about all kinds of things. It was very sad that they had been starting work for the summer and they had saved their money to go up there. For nobody to be there to talk to them or reassure them, I think that's important to young women nowadays"
