The winners of the Cavan heat of a national art competition have been announced with pupils at St Mogue's and St Patrick's national schools taking home the senior and junior titles. St Mogue's of Bawnboy are the Junior winners and St Patrick's National School in Shercock the senior winners in County Cavan in the "Someone Like Me" national competition.
The competition, which, is organised by the National Disability Authority, attracted 2,783 entries from national schools across the length and breadth of the country. St Mogue's and St Patrick's national schools will now go on to compete with 50 other schools from around the country for the overall Someone Like Me junior and senior awards which will be announced at the national awards ceremony to held at Dublin City Hall on Tuesday 28th January 2025
Congratulating St Mogue's and St Patrick's National Schools, Director of the National Disability Authority, Dr Aideen Hartney said that the number of entries this year is a tribute to the commitment of Ireland's primary school teachers. Teacher Mary Reilly led 2nd class pupils Amy, Kate, Amelia, Eve and Áine of St Mogue's NS in their project. While a 2nd class group in St. Patrick's NS were also awarded for their project in the "colourful drawing" category.
