Ukrainian refugees are set to move into 30 new modular homes currently being built in Cavan town in the New Year. Five sites have been earmarked nationally for 500 homes including at Cork, Tipperary, Sligo, Mayo and Cavan town.
The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, has confirmed to Northern Sound, that the total cost of the 500 modular units is estimated at €100m.
The cost includes enabling works for site, the construction of units, onsite delivery, installation of units, and facilities management A spokesperson for the department said the homes will be highly energy efficient, durable units with a 60 year lifespan.
