A Cavan TD says Government will continue to "do more" to support the people of Ireland through the current cost of living crisis.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show, Deputy Brendan Smith says he is "very conscious" of the extreme pressures that families across the region are facing.
His comments come in response to Sinn Fein's decision to table a motion of no confidence in the Government next week.
In relation to financial concerns over back-to-school costs, Deputy Smith agreed that "more additional supports are needed."
He believes the expansion of the back-to-school allowance is something which "should be considered" adding that he is aware of the many people who are "just above" the income limit when it comes to availing of support schemes and who he says, "need more help."
