Cavan TD expresses condolences following two separate fatalities this week

Local diversions are currently still in place on the Ballinagh Road from Cavan Town as a result of the incident.

A Cavan TD has expressed his condolences following two separate fatal collisions locally this week.
Twenty-year old Amy Stokes from Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan, died following a single-vehicle collision in the Ballyconnell Road area of Derrylin.
Meanwhile, this Christmas morning a man aged in his late 80s was pronounced dead on the scene following a two-vehicle collision on the N55 in Clarebane, Co. Cavan. The collision occurred at approximately 12:40am on the Ballinagh Road close to the Corlurgan Business Park in Cavan Town. His body has been removed to Cavan General Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound News, Cavan-Monaghan TD Brendan Smith said his thoughts are with the families of the deceased:

Local diversions are currently still in place on the Ballinagh Road from Cavan Town as a result of the incident. The road is closed from the Corlurgan junction and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours. Gardaí are appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including Dash-cam ) who were travelling on the N55 between 12:15am and 12:45am this morning to make this footage available.
