A Cavan TD says that early intervention is key when it comes to safeguarding the mental health of young people across Cavan and Monaghan.

With the establishment of a new Early Intervention Youth Mental Health Service for the region in Castleblayney, Niamh Smith believes that the more society talks about mental health, the more chance there will be of finally breaking the stigma that is attached to the subject.

The Fianna Fáil TD warns that the rate of suicide across Cavan and Monaghan over the years has had a devastating impact on families and communities.
